In the same way as an office visit, a virtual visit takes place online. A virtual visit is an online appointment that lets you speak face-to-face with a health care provider from the comfort of your home. While your provider is present, you are chatting with them from home, work, or another convenient place. Symptoms can be assessed, diagnoses can be made, treatment can be prescribed, and prescriptions can be sent to your pharmacy.

Steps To Schedule The Virtual Visit

For scheduling a virtual visit appointment, you’ll need a myACPNY patient portal account. Follow the steps below to participate.

  • You must sign in to myACPNY. Click here for instructions on creating an account if you haven’t already done so.
  • When your virtual visit is ready, log into your ACPNY account to join the appointment.
  • You can check-in for your appointment up to 30 minutes before it starts. You will need to reschedule your appointment by calling the Call Center at 646-680-4227 if you are more than 5 minutes late.

Many insurance companies now cover the cost of virtual visits. All patients, however, should confirm that their specific health plan covers a virtual visit in advance. Co-payments and deductibles are not collected during the virtual visit check-in process. You will receive a statement bill for applicable co-payments or deductibles.

Virtual appointments are possible for many types of appointments, but there are some exceptions. Physical examinations and annual physicals, as well as podiatry and optometry appointments, may require an in-person visit. We encourage you to ask our call center when scheduling your next appointment whether you can do your upcoming visit virtually.
